Thames flows tame today
as I peer across
hospital window pane,
it's break of dawn;
the city has just begun
preparing to witness -
ahead is another day.
A lovers' kiss
painful part and depart,
ferries afloat,
families on stroll;
ferries afloat,
families on stroll;
all ages pitter pattering the cross walk
policemen on patrol
policemen on patrol
big sniffing dog on leash
as executives in rat rush throng
as executives in rat rush throng
to beat Big Ben's gong -
at this hour
it sounds harsh!
Tourists are relaxed
some savouring a moment on their own
or, capturing London on their roll
bride's photoshoot by riverwalk
bride's photoshoot by riverwalk
and the man in dejection
some caught in contemplation
stay still and seated
on steps
by famed Westminster bridge.
Ahem, I can already hear curse
of a homeless squat, careless
in its drunken drawl...
There'll be much to catch
when diversity throbs
when diversity throbs
pounding the roads
criss across, oblivious
to another touching
the start of their day
until hours draw to close
twilight fades into nightfall
as was decreed and endorsed
on Playwright's Scroll....
So long it's dawn
let me own this hour
I wanna savour
with sweet sips of tea
this moment of quiet
blending my spirit
into the gentle
flow of Thames,
I peer to feel
It's pulse on tip toes
I strain to press my nose
close very close
away from blood,
fluid mix, grime and
every labouring cry
the night Doctor
has chosen this time -
I stay
glued to glazed glass.
